Brown v. Board of Education</a> decision, nine black students enrolled at Central High School. However, Arkansas Gov. Orval Faubus used the state National Guard to prevent the "Little Rock Nine" from entering the school on Sept, 4, 1957. Faubus claimed he was merely keeping the peace, in light of a crowd of hundreds of angry white parents outside of the school, but a judge would later overrule him. As the <em>Memphis Press-Scimitar</em> reports, the National Guardsmen also try to interfere with newspaper interviews of the crowd.</p> <p>In international news, this front page discusses tensions over a Soviet jet landing in the United States and new developments in Fidel Castro's 26 of July Movement. This movement would lead to the Cuban Revolution in 1959.
